Izayoi no Tsuki
review by amasanin

The book is hardback, 127 pages long, very nicely (but at the same time simply) decorated and includes a few black & white pictures of Minako and Kozi presumably as characters from the story. The CD is on the inside of the back cover in a paper case (which you have to partly tear to open ;_;) has 10 tracks and a hidden 16th one (so for those who were wondering about the silent tracks, those would be 11- 15).

Tracks 1-9 are very fairytale like and nightmarish, with a partly carnival - partly freakshow taste about them. And at the same time very gentle and sweet. They don't sound like anything he's done before though (in the sense that they don't sound like any particular song he's previously composed). There are vocals by Minako in some tracks and some mutterings by Kozi in others (and a few unidentified 'voices' at parts). There seems to be a wide range of instruments including a wooden flute which must have some significance to the story cause Kozi is seen playing it in some of the pictures.

Generally I don't know to how many people this will make sense but think a crossover between Danny Elfman, Silent Hill soundtracks and The Residents' more quiet tracks - but it's pure Kozi ^_^/

Track 10 is completely different - it starts like the rest but then it has a beat! And it turns electro! Minako sings properly in this one and Kozi does a lot of talking (and faint backup singing).

The hidden track is the same as track 10 without the vocals. A pure techno track to my ears.

On the whole I would say if you like Kozi's music I'd be VERY surprised if you didn't love this. I am so frustrated I can't read the book at the moment, it just sounds so good. I'll be scanning some of the pics soon and giving them to scape.

As for the tracklist, it'll be too hard for me to romanize because it's almost entirely in kanji but I can tell you that track 2 is called 'Izayoi no Tsuki'.

Dewa ^_^
