Catharsis

Having heard
Catharsis for the upteenth time....its time for a brief review of
the album released by this talented artiste
1) Kinema - ahhh..an intro
track...its kinda strange...i thought initially..why this wasn't
included in the single...but it sorta guides u into the mood of
the whole album...slow ..as if in a horror castle..and not too
long either....brings it perfectly into the next track..
2) Grottesca - The starting of the
song really impressed me....kinda expected an ISM kinda song...
this is probably the stuff that he has benefited from as a result
of touring constantly with haruhiko.. if you like eve of
destiny..this would sound like it was tailor made for your ears...i
personally thought it could have been better....full marks to the
catchy beats though...
3) Incoherents - haha...he
experiments alot in this one....singing and talking.. this
one..really reminds me of Malice Mizer...theres a shade of many
songs in this one (theres some sadistic lil tones in there)...u
figure
it out yourself.... although its good....theres something
lacking...but i would say this numbers pretty unique...haha..things
you would expect from
him..and i like the way it suddenly ends as well...in a musical
box manner...
4) Nocturne - this song impresses me
a lot really. It was the song you woulda thought it was
boring...but i thought it was great..he must have been hearing
something old that made him produce this one...cos it reminds me
of some old song...just forgot the title...again..theres shades of
MM in there as well...
5) Dans erobos - good stuff...the
beginning sounds so good...i'm sure everyone agrees this one is
classic kozi material..
6) Catharsis - a long instrumental...i
dunno..erm..sounds like those kinda sadistic tunes you hear when a
lot of people start dieing...
7) Promenade - many people liked this
one....i didn't really like it too much of it really
initially..cos i think it fits weirdly into the tracks...this ones
probably more friendly for the radios compared to the rest...but
ok..as i heard more and more of it..it started to grow on me..and
haha..the chorus kinda got stuck in my head..i'm impressed
though..how he could mix the song...and made it better than the
single...many others who done it wouldn't have gotten the same
effect..
8) Life goes on ~with melanchoy~ -
the beats kinda reminded me of illuminati ....though i dunno why..
haruhiko helped him with this one...haha..electronica inspired
track i suppose...i think this ones just
average (not bad)...but definately not mediocre..
9) Crimson Star - haha..when i first
heard it...i tot..what the hell?! was he trying to make some
kinda cartoon song?!?...Hey man..this guys freggin talented...if
he could pull off a stunt like this..make a kinda cute song
beaty...you'll only imagine what he'll do next..heh..and he sounds
like he's sounds like he's having lotsa fun..
10) Cruel Arcadia - As the song
suggests...a "CRUEL" song..i dunno..this songs abit too heavy for
me...didn't bother to hear it again after 2-3 times...
11) Innermost - wooo...this was the
kinda stuff i was expecting...after 10 tracks..finally got it...i
would have to say..this has to be the best song he has dished out
so far...the song gets stuck to your head , the guitars
are good...the production is good...the beats are just nice...his
vocals are perfect for the mood of the song...brillianto!
12) Khaos - extremely long
instrumental...(an outro track) kinda way too long perhaps...and
it stops abruptly at 1:35 and 5:28...whats the long pause
for?..and it ends again abruptly after a few seconds...but hell
when 5:28 begins...it sounds like a new song that he must have
prepared for perhaps his next release...and hell it sounds real
good..(like MM again!)
Overall..i think that its a really really excellent effort for a
debut release solo album...even without the presence of strong
numbers like Honey Vanity and Ism...the CD doesn't lack of tracks
that can stand strong alone,
i think he has grown alot since the hiatus of MM and there are
high expectations on his next release...be it with EOD ...or Solo.
